Situated on a promontory overlooking the Loire River and owned for more than four centuries by the powerful Amboise family, the castle was attached to the crown in 1434. It served as a residence for several kings of France during the Renaissance (Charles VIII, Louis XI, Louis XII...).

Château de la Ménaudière

Formerly called the Manor of Cloux, the Château du Clos Lucé was bought by Charles VIII and became a summer residence for the kings of France. In 1516, François I placed it at the disposal of Leonardo da Vinci until his death in 1519.

Chambord Castle

Château de la Ménaudière

Located in the Loir-et-Cher region, this castle was built in the largest enclosed forest park in Europe. It was François I who ordered its construction in 1519. Unfortunately, he only spent a short time there until his death in 1547. Chambord remains the largest of the Loire Valley castles.
